Christmas comes with lots of traditions. Lots of rituals, must haves, and ornaments with memories attached to them. One of my family’s traditions growing up was the epic assembly line of making and decorating spritz cookies.
Someone would make the dough and put it in the fridge to set. Straws were drawn for who was going to use the ancient cookie press that no one ever thought to get an updated version of and would leave a bruise on your hand after at least a hundred cookies were pumped through it. Everyone would get in on the careful decorating with sprinkles making designs or going wild.
After a full afternoon, we would have tupperwares full of this crunchy little cookies.
But now, I make cookies on my own and there is no time (hello two little kids), or enough sheet pans, to do it all. Instead, I make these little Easy Peasy Christmas Cookies in about 20 minutes. I love the minty flavor and combination of the sweet and salty. Plus, Zoey can help me unwrap the Hershey Kisses, which gives her a focused purpose for helping me out in the kitchen (her favorite thing to do).
Once you get these specific ingredients (the candy cane kisses are where it is at), you can easy (and very quickly) make lots of these Christmas cookies. They are perfect to wrap up in cute little bags with a sweet ribbon and take to cookie exchanges, or toss into a mason jar and give as gifts (because who doesn’t love chocolate?).
Personally, I like to keep these cookies in the fridge since I like my chocolate cold, but you can store them at room temperature as well. It really just comes down to your personal preference. Whether they are in your fridge, or on your counter, you are going to have a festive and colorful Christmas cookie to enjoy.
Easy Peasy Christmas Cookies
Ingredients:
Directions
1. Lay pretzels on a pan covered with tinfoil or parchment paper.
2. Place an unwrapped Hershey kiss in the center of each pretzel.
3. Bake 4-5 minutes at 200 degrees.
4. Take out of the oven and place a M&M in the center of each kiss. Push down slightly so the soften kiss will spread over the pretzel.
5. Place in fridge to cool.
6. Try not to eat all of them at once!
