Cambodia seriously rocked. Rob and I spent three full days in Siem Reap, home of the Khmer King temples.

We tend to go full steam ahead on vacation and this trip was no different. Day 1, we biked about 13 miles between temples and hiked an estimated 5 miles in and around the temples themselves.

Day 2 and 3 brought more walking and hiking through the temples and Cambodian jungle, but we opted to take a driver between stops.

Walking through the temples is not like walking through a house or church. There are steep steps, stairs up and over every threshold (which there are a ton of in each temple), and uneven ground to negotiate. Add in the distance from the parking lot to the front gate and you have got a serious workout on your hands.

The temples were absolutely gorgeous. I was worried that I would get templed out, since I’m not a huge history buff, but I found that each temple was unique and I wanted to see more of them. We probably explored 11 temples in 3 days.

It was hot! I am talking worse than the brain-melting heat of Hoi An. Rob brought a towel from the hotel with him to wipe off the sweat, but I just let it roll. It actually felt good to sweat that much, kind of like a natural sauna. I was the sunblock police and made sure we didn’t burn.
