This is going to sound really strange, but I get a serious pleasure out of having an empty fridge. Something about knowing that all the food was eaten and none of it went to waste really makes me happy.
This may sound more strange, but filling my fridge also gives me some serious pleasure. The possibility of being able to make just about anything after a weekly grocery trip.
While collecting the monthly Costco haul, one of the sample ladies peered into our cart and asked, “Are you all juicers? Do you do that juicing thing?” No, we do the fruit smoothie thing, but I loved the complement of how nutritious our cart seemed to her.
That being said, there was a pack of 3 frozen pizzas and a giant bag of ruffle chips in there later on.
Workout Recap
Due to studying (still floating on air about passing), I only hit the gym twice for some short runs and minimal weight training last week. Sunday morning, I managed to run for an hour and make it 6.64 miles.
Great way to shake off the stress of the week!

Hi Brooke. Your post comes on the heels of my husband and I tossing out leftovers and “old” food this past weekend. It is a shame, but it does feel good to get rid of it.
Your cart looks divine. (I love feta cheese!) But I find an empty refrigerator to be frustrating. I think it hearkens back to the days when we couldn’t afford to fill one. I still get a sense of security when the refrigerator is full. 🙂
I love having a clean, empty fridge and I take great pleasure out of getting it empty, which is actually a bit difficult living with a beer connoisseur who must have 5 different types of beer in there at all times. My freezer, however, is a much different story. It is always packed and I love it!
Thank you for letting me know I’m not alone! I also love having a full freezer. Again, it’s nice to know there is food to feed the family in an emergency.
I’m like you and Amy – freezer is always well stocked.
Amy, we have solved the beer thing by having a separate fridge (and another one for all the kid drinks – we are old!!).
I like filling the fridge after it’s done – the grocery shopping isn’t my favorite!
